probably my favorite thing about this place is that it's open on sundays, and open for lunch, when the rest of france is closed.
i'm not saying that because the food sucks, or the atmosphere is meh, or i can't find anything else to say. as the dancing household items in disney's "beauty and the beast" wisely sang, "after all, miss, this is france, and the dinner here is never second-best."
everything was more than satisfactory, but nothing was particularly overwhelming. they were out of the saumon potage special that i really wanted, so i went with a smoked salmon plate, and i got... smoked salmon on a plate. ok then. a few capers (which are on steroids here -- seriously, they're, like, grape-sized) and a drizzle of olive oil. found my own salt and pepper and put it on top of my salad with some lemon. nice and fresh.
it was super duper busy and thus took us awhile to order, but other than that service was fine.
my favorite was at the end when we ordered the dessert/coffee package -- we each got three mini-desserts in sherry glasses, plus a cappuccino... chocolate mousse, créme brulée, and everything else you dream of eating yourself to death with. oh yeah, with a cognac at the same time. because, you know, it's 12:00 somewhere, and by 12:00 mean it's drinkin' time in france.
